If Account Administrator who has Email Protection installed on their account chooses option Delivered to Inbox with tag/Delivered to Recipient with tag, emails that contain marketing, spam, phishing, are external or failed authentication will have tags in email subject and/or email body highlighted with chosen color. With this tag recipients will understand more clearly what can be wrong with the specific email and why it can be harmful.

Message Tagging is available for the following Email Protection components:

  • Inbound SPAM
    Log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Inbound Policies > Spam.
    Note: available for Email Protection Lite, Email Protection Full, Email Protection + DLP packages.
  • Inbound Phishing
    Log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Inbound Policies > Phishing.
    Note: available for Email Protection Full, Email Protection + DLP packages.
  • Inbound Email Authentication
    Log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Inbound Policies > Email Authentication.
    Note: available for Email Protection Full, Email Protection + DLP packages.
  • Outbound SPAM
    Log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Outbound Policies > Spam.
    Note: available for Email Protection + DLP package.

To change the package of Email Protection (Upgrade or Downgrade) navigate to Services > Email Protection > Package Management. For additional information refer to article Email Protection: Package Management

Enabling Message Tagging

  1. Log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Inbound Policies/Outbound Policies.

  2. Choose a policy to modify.

  3. Select Spam/Phishing/Email Authentication tab.

  4. Choose option Delivered to Inbox with tag/Delivered to Recipient with tag in a drop-down list near certain option.

  5. Click Save changes.
    Note: default tag settings will be applied. Default tags are SPAM, MARKETING, EXTERNAL, PHISHING, SPF FAIL, TLS FAIL and applied automatically depending on the option. By default, only subject tag is chosen.

Modifying Message Tag

  1. Click on Manage tag near the chosen option.

  2. Enable/disable Add tag to email subject option by checking the box next to it.

  3. Keep the default tag or type customized text. Maximum 50 characters allowed.

  4. Enable/disable Add tag to email body option by checking the box next to it. Type customized text for body tag. Maximum 300 characters allowed.

  5. Select a color for tag from drop-down list among red, orange, green, blue and gray. Certain incoming emails will have warning message highlighted with a chosen color above original email body.

  6. Check how chosen settings would look like under Email preview section.

  7. Click Save changes.

Notes:

  • Character set should be limited by ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) table.
    Alphanumeric characters: a-z A-Z 0-9
    Special characters: `\(){}<>[]"'`!&,.:;?-_#$%*+\/=@^|~
  • If incoming message contains more than one tag with different types of tags (e.g. email is both external and marketing) and these tags have different text and color or different colors but same text or different text but the same color, all tags should be shown.
  • If incoming message contains more than one tag with different types of tags (e.g. email is both external and marketing) but these tags have the same text, only one tag should be shown.
