Mailbox alias properties are located in CONTROL PANEL > Services > Mailboxes. Click the user's display name, then click the user's email address.
Aliases are multiple references to a single mailbox. They allow you to receive email to alternate email addresses. Aliases must be at a domain associated with your Exchange account, for example, email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. Mail sent to the alias email address will be delivered to the mailbox of the Primary Address for the user.

All mail sent out by the user will have the Primary Address in the From field of the message.

Note: Aliases, as well as primay addresses, must be unique for each Smarsh Hosted Services account. If you're trying to create a new object (or add an alias) and receiving the error Email addresses must be unique, that means such an email address is already assigned to another object.
To lookup if the email address is already being used as an alias of another object, you can use the search feild:

- Navigate to Services > Mailboxes
- Enter the email address you want to add into the search field. You can search for the part of the email address too.
- Select Email Aliases from the drop-down list
- Click Apply Filter
