Email Protection allows account administrators to customize message routing for end-users. To set it up, log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Settings > Message Routing.

There are two options for the message routing available:

User quarantine

If this option is selected, messages will be moved to a user quarantine and the user will receive a daily spam report.

To manage the settings log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Inbound policies > click on the policy in question > Spam.

If you have selected this option, you will have the following options for Certain spam and Probable spam under the Spam tab:

  • Permanently deleted
  • Moved to Admin quarantine
  • Moved to User quarantine
  • Deliver to Inbox with [SPAM] subject tag
  • Deliver to Inbox

Note: It is possible to adjust the sensitivity level for Probable Spam. The following options are available:

  • Aggressive: may result some in some clean messages being marked as spam
  • Moderate: will balance spam detection with a very low chance of clean messages being marked as spam. Recommended level.
  • Relaxed: may result in some spam being delivered to the inbox

For Marketing mail the following options are available:

  • Permanently deleted
  • Moved to Admin quarantine
  • Moved to User quarantine
  • Deliver to Inbox with [MARKETING] subject tag
  • Deliver to Inbox

Junk Email folder

If you select this option, messages will be automatically moved to the user's Junk Email folder. Users can access this folder via Outlook, Webmail or mobile devices.

Note: the Junk Email folder is not accessible if Outlook is downloading messages using POP3 protocol.

To manage the settings log into CONTROL PANEL > Services > Email Protection > Inbound policies > click on the policy in question > Spam.

Note: if settings were changed from User quarantine to Junk Email folder or vice versa, users' personal Safe & Blocked Senders lists from Quarantine Area will not be moved to Outlook/OWA Safe & Blocked senders lists or vice versa. You may want to move them manually.
Read Email Protection: End User Safe/Blocked Senders Lists for more information.
