Known Issues

  1. These WRT54G routers intermittently interfere with phone registration, causing call and feature failures.
  2. DNS server addresses need to be changed to set of efficient DNS servers, like Google's DNS or another DNS, to prevent intermittent registration failures on Polycom phones.
  3. WAN ping response to our Call Quality Monitoring and Troubleshooting Servers, 64.28.122.110 and 64.28.121.110, needs to be enabled.

Temporary Resolution

  1. Log in to the router.
  2. Under Setup go to Basic Setup and change the following:
    • Static DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
    • Static DNS 2: 8.8.4.4
    1. Click on Save Settings.
  3. Go to Security > Firewall and change the following:
    • Firewall Protection: Enable.
    • Block Anonymous Internet Requests: Unchecked.
      • This optional step is needed for call quality monitoring and troubleshooting purposes.
    • Filter Multicast: Checked.
    • Filter Internet NAT Redirection: Checked.
    • Filter IDENT(Port 113): Checked.
    • Click on Save Settings.

Permanent Resolution

  1. Replace your router with a different serviceable or recommended router if you do not have one already.
    • Smarsh Hosted Services cannot setup the new router for you, but your IT or the manufacturer of your new router can assist you.
    • They will need to move settings from the old to the new router to ensure your computers and other devices on the network work properly.
