Currently, there are the following known issues with Skype For Business And Consumer Skype Federation:

  • In Smarsh Hosted Services environment, federation starts working several days after confirmation from Microsoft that is has been set up. Microsoft guarantees the request is processed within 30 days
  • When adding a consumer Skype user without an MSA account, it may show up as cid-(12345something)@outlook.com in the in the contact details and user Skype ID will no longer be shown. This is a confirmed bug. As a workaround, Microsoft recommends creating an MSA account and connecting the consumer account to the MSA one
