Important: due to changes in Microsoft policies, we can no longer set up federation with consumer Skype for our customers in the shared environment. Customers hosted on dedicated platforms continue to have this functionality enabled until further notice.
Currently there are the following known issues with Skype For Business And Consumer Skype Federation:
- In Smarsh Hosted Services environment, federation starts working several days after confirmation from Microsoft that is has been setup. Microsoft guarantees the request is processed within 30 days
- When adding a consumer Skype user without an MSA (Microsoft Account), it may show up as cid-(12345something)@outlook.com in the contact list. This is a confirmed bug. As a workaround, Microsoft recommend creating an MSA account and connecting the consumer account to the MSA one
