Users can have a cell phone or wireless handheld set up as a secondary phone with Hosted PBX service using a softphone app. In this case, incoming calls ring to both the office extension (IP phone) and the mobile device simultaneously.
Wireless devices or cell phones must have a SIP application installed and also have a Wi-Fi or 4G connection in order to use them with the Hosted PBX service.
You must configure SIP service on the device, using the phone ID, password, and server name provided. Read the Knowledge Base article on How do I configure an IP phone? for instructions on how to find this information.
Important note: Each device has to be registered with the PBX using a unique Device ID. If you use existing Device ID to set up a second phone device, this will result in dropped calls, one-way or no audio, etc.
If a user would like to use multiple devices (e.g. multiple phones, softphone clients, etc), the account administrator will need to generate additional device IDs in the CONTROL PANEL. The administrator can add another device in CONTROL PANEL > Users > Hosted PBX tab > click on the User name > Phone Devices > Activate existing phone.
Note: Wireless devices must have an active Wi-Fi or 4G connection in order to use Hosted PBX service. If the device is not in a Wi-Fi zone, or if the mobile carrier's plan does not allow VoIP calls over 4G, Hosted PBX calls will not work (?owever, you can always set up Find Me, Follow Me to forward calls to the mobile number).
