ShareSync is designed to install the most recent updates automatically.
If Windows or Mac ShareSync do not update automatically, try the following:
To enable autoupdate, administrator should enable Task Scheduler service under Services:
Make sure the Startup Type is set to Automatic.
You can also check that the ShareSync Autoupdate task is set to Ready:
If the old version of the application cannot be uninstalled and the user can't install the new version, perform one of the following steps:
- Repair the broken installation by running the installer for the latest version. Choose Repair and, once completed, try upgrading to the latest version:
- Use Microsoft Fix it tool to force-remove old version of ShareSync, and then install the latest verion
Download and run the latest version of the client. This will fix any possible corruption.
You may need to launch the auto-update task by running the following command in the Terminal:
sudo launchctl start com.ShareSync.AutoUpdater
Autoupdate is available for clients v.2.10+ with no end-user activity.
ShareSync disappears after the update
In case the autoupdate fail, ShareSync disappears and a new version cannot be installed manually, you might see the following error message:
The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ShareSync. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
Usually it is caused by a network policy or antivirus program.
This issue can be fixed by:
- adding ShareSync to the list of the exceptions in your antivirus settings
- adding the Full Control permission for the SYSTEM account for the folder specified in error
- if users utilize Webroot you may want to check this resource
