Sometimes you may notice that, for some of the users, the email address contains domain.local rather than your domain:
domain.local
and domain.local is added to the Domain Names on your account:
domain.local is added to the Domain Names

In most cases, this is caused by DirectoryLink synchronizing User Principal Names from your local Active Directory (the User logon name property on the Account tab):
User Logon Name

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:

  • disable User Principal Name synchronization on the DirectoryLink > Settings > Auto Create, Delete & Sync page by unchecking the User Principal Name box in the Users section:
    disable User Principal Name synchronization
With the box unchecked, the mail property will be synchonized instead, and the User Principal Name will match user's email address on Smarsh Hosted Services side
  • modify the User Logon Name property in your local AD to macth the email address (the mail property on the General tab):
    change User Logon Name
